Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing great.
We all know the main mantra of skin care, that is Cleansing, Toning, and Moisturising. But aren’t we missing something and that something is also important as these three steps. EXFOLIATING! It is Cleansing, Exfoliating, Toning, and Moisturising. Oh yes! Skin exfoliation is essential. It is just a myth that you don’t need to exfoliate. So why you need to exfoliate? But first, what is exfoliation?
Exfoliation is the removal of the top layer of dead and dry skin cells from your skin. It should be considered as the key step to get a glowy skin.
Why we need to exfoliate?
Well, here is your answer. Our skin gets dry and because of the dead skin cells, it looks dull and not healthy. Also, when you will apply makeup on your skin it will not blend nicely, your skin will look flaky and uneven. Dead skin cells cause large pores, wrinkles, fine lines and also leads to uneven skin tone. So obviously it is really very important to remove dead skin cells from your skin, this gives way to new cells that move up from lower levels. And that’s how you will get a fresh and smooth skin. Because your moisturizer will deeply penetrate into the skin & will give more effective results. Exfoliation also removes blackheads and reduces acne. It reduces visible signs of aging, improves skin texture and minimizes the appearance of pores. And it should be done on all skin types. Body exfoliation is as important as face exfoliation.
How often should you exfoliate?
It all depends on your skin type. But it should be minimum two times a week and maximum five times a week, not more than that. Over-exfoliation can cause skin irritation. If your skin is extra sensitive, you can exfoliate two times a week, if not then three-four times a week.
How can I exfoliate?
There are two types of exfoliation, Physical and Chemical. I do physical exfoliation. You can do physical exfoliation by using facial cleaning brushes, facial scrubs, and DIY salt or sugar scrubs. Using harsh scrubs can cause skin damage so be gentle to your skin while exfoliating.
Facial scrubs that I have used and would recommend:
I have literally used so many scrubs, and this one by Lakme is still my favorite. I don’t know this just makes my skin happy and healthy. 🙂 This scrub works great for my skin. You can buy it HERE
My second favorite, Walnut Scrub by Himalaya. This also works fine for my skin. Both these scrubs are not at all gentle. If you really want to remove those stubborn blackheads, you have to use scrubs with bit large granules in it. But these aren’t harsh. You can buy it HERE
I don’t use this one much because Neutrogena scrub is very light for me. But if you have sensitive skin and if you’re looking for gentle facial scrub then this one is for you. You can buy it HERE
I also use DIY facial and body scrubs. I will do a post regarding all these scrubs in detail later.
Let your natural beauty shine through with the help of exfoliation. For youthful looking skin you should never skip exfoliation. Also, it makes your skincare products more effective. Keep your skin free from dead cells and make it more fresh, smooth and even by exfoliating.
